Airbus to automate TCAS reaction

Hi folks,
Haven't spotted mention of this story on PPRuNe yet but according to this Wall Street Journal article Airbus are planning to automate the reaction to TCAS alerts.

Pretty sure it was mentioned on PPrune a while back. I reckon it's a good idea, the proposal is that it works only whilst the autopilot is engaged, if you don't like it you can just press the red button and take control. We are all used to monitoring the autopilot flying and even landing the aircraft so I have no problem at all with watching it complete a TCAS RA nice and smoothly.

It's not just a good idea Max Angle, it's an EXTREMELY good idea, well done Airbus!

One only has to recall the thread running about 6 months ago (When to follow a TCAS), to realise that there's many pilots 'out there' who are trying to kill you.

Regards,
