Joining the NTSB

Hi all,

I've wanted to work as an investigator and wish to join the NTSB one day.
What are the qualifications and level of experience required? Also does one need to be a US citizen?

Thanks n best regards to PPRuNe

First, get a bunch of experience to expert level in your chosen field of expertise .. eg engineering, maintenance, operations, ATC, HUFAC, medicine, etc., etc.

Second, do a few investigation courses to give you a foot in the door. Google will list the standard institutions, eg Cranfield, ERAU, SCSI, plus a host of generally tertiary institution or regulator short courses ... all expensive.

Third, knock on the door.

Mind you, with Cranfield training - it may be that you can persuade the powers that be in Sri-Lanka that you're just the chap to start it's own version of NTSB / AAIB ?
