This discussion has run on Pprune before and again I say I always 'dress down' in the RHS to try to ensure the 'correct' authority gradient to all. 2/3 stripes on the RHS pilot's shirt is a GOOD idea in my book! It is expensive and impractical to issue two jackets, of course.

The Captain is the Captain. He/she sits in the left-hand seat signs the tech log and load sheet, decides ultimate fuel load and IS responsible for the safe conduct of the flight and all decisions thereby (unless training), and if wise, uses the 'resources' available to best effect. One hopes we are all 'professional' enough to do the jobs we are given?

Captain Stable

I do personally fully agree to your statement!
What even worries me more is, how some captains are just waving off all concerns, stating that they just could do without hesitation!
Unfortunately this thread is double covered also under ...Orange hair brained scheme...
I believe it is a reasonable question to be discussed by reasonable aviators!
