Vino Collapso 28th March 2008 13:37

As a previous poster on his thread I am just announcing my return from holiday courtesy of BA and AA. Thanks to all staff for making the trip a success as usual (particular note to any AA pilots lurking out there familiar with operating to/from JAC. That must concentrate the brainwaves when landing in poor vis, low cloud and snow amongst all that high ground:D).

Interestingly the return flight from DFW this morning was noticably not full, but perhaps that is the day of the week rather than customers voting with their feet.

Now I find that BA are going to move the DFW operation from LGW to that hell hole called LHR. Someone is definitely trying to put me off my favourite airline.

Although I am no longer directly affected by the BA pilots theatened actions I continue to watch this thread with interest.

Just wondered what the team thinks the T5 disaster will have on the current dispute?

Willie:

a) shy away from a strike, reckoning that he needs a period of stability

or

b) think " it" I'm stuffed anyway so why shouldn't I shaft those overpaid pompous bas:mad:ards anyway?

Innovative minds at BA?

Saw this, the opening line on the www.flyopenskie.com website,

'We’re a new airline being born from the innovative minds of British Airways.'

This being the same minds that planned the T5 move, help!

You gotta love the crass censored postings on the openlies website, it is so funny. such as;

Hey Dale - I’m excited about seeing the new aircraft too! When will you be about to share some pix!

1. clearly some **** who knows Dale Moss
2. How excited can you be about a 2nd hand 757?
3. Don't think Dale will be about, he's humping bags in T5 for the next week

BAengineering 1st April 2008 23:51

The openlies 757

Reference my earlier post about the drivel on the openlies website about how Dale can;t wait to show off his new 757 photos.

Well beat you to it Dale. As you can see the Openlies 757 winglets et al is undergoing a spray paint at out LHR sprayshed.

I'll try to get more pics as the work continues. Looks like it's all going ahead, specially after WW sky interview, he seemed quite bullish about his trip to the High court. Hope he's been advised better by his legal team than he was by his Terminal 5 team.

Enjoy, BAEngineer

...he seemed quite bullish about his trip to the High court...
and do we have a date for this yet?

BAengineering 2nd April 2008 06:22

Court date

No I have not heard what the date is supposed to be, I would expect that there should be some news this week. However we all know how slow things move in the UK and of course its in BA's interest to drag this thing out for as long as possible. Apparently there is a problem with getting the customers bags from our heathrow T5 storage facility and back to them:ugh:

Shaman 2nd April 2008 14:02

Thanks for the reply.

BAengineering 2nd April 2008 19:13

Court dates

Looking at the BALPA website the following shocking statement about BA management is well worth a read. Persoanally in all my years at BA I have never heard such strong language by BALPA. BA have really pissed them off. Funny how they are reporting the BA management, bullying, like 19th century mill owners, refusing to listen.

These very same characteristics have been contributory to the current fiasco in T5.

Oh they say the court date will be;

Matter to be listed for 5 days on first available date after 14 May;
unlikely to be a judgment before June this year.

ShortfinalFred 3rd April 2008 08:56

Arrogance is the byword of BA management. The results are perfectly plain for all to see in the T5 debacle - what price the Company Slogan "Fit for Five" now?

If any peasant dares to offer a thought to the Lords of BA then they had better be saying how good the new clothes look on the emporer, or its a disciplinary hearing all round.

To mix a metaphor and quote the sage of Omaha:

"Its only when the tide goes out that you can see who'se been swimming naked".

What a bloated, arrogant, bullying, short-sighted little collection of robbers they are.

BAengineering 3rd April 2008 09:10

Grab your post

Shortfinal - hope you don't mind but I'm going to grab your posting for the other T5 Chaos thread, your comments are priceless.

I love the visual quality of your statement, I can just imagine WW standing there covering his Wee Willie!!! Priceless.

More power to BALPA

Storminnorm 4th April 2008 11:01

Sorry shortfinal, they,(The powers that be at BA.} are NOT
stupid.
They have forged a wonderful situation where THEY can't lose.
The Terminal 5 fiasco has been manipulated and has put the
flying members in the position where they CAN'T strike without
getting the blame for bringing the Company to it's knees.
Possibly TERMINALLY, if you see what I mean.
It's been a really BRILLIANT move.
BA is in the situation where it could go down the drain totally,
and the Pilots get the blame, Not the inept(?) management.
Think about it.:ooh:

Human Factor 4th April 2008 11:21

In fact, many of us now feel that there is even less to lose by striking. BA cannot continue with the present "Leadership Team" and quite possibly some of the board. It needs people at the helm who truly understand the airline business. As they have proved in the past few days, the current incumbents do not. They do not listen to the operational staff who know the issues far better than they do and know the solutions. The "We Know Best" attitude is alive and well and living in Waterside. If there is anything which will kill BA, that is it.

If you are so convinced a pilot's strike will kill BA (not something I believe myself), I would take that a stage further and say that BA is a dead duck anyway and a strike would just delay the agony. This is effectively the Eastern Airlines scenario.

If I am to lose my pension and everything I have worked hard to achieve because a bunch of greedy, self-serving, short-termists are in charge of the company I love, I guarantee you my colleagues and I will pay them back ten-fold.

Right Engine 4th April 2008 11:31

"Delusional Optimism". When can we purge our managers of this insane trait?

Pay back time

Sorry Human Factor, but by the time you all get it together
to "Pay Back" the present bunch of t*ssers that are running
the show, They will be pissing it up in some tax-haven and
going to the bank to count their multi million pay-offs.
You see, they have won.
It doesn't matter what happens in the next few weeks, or
months.
The fact remains that they have brought this situation to a
head where a week or two of turmoil in the new "Home" has
been traded in for a really powerful weapon to preclude any
action that the PILOTS might have been able to take, whilst,
at the same time saying to the World, "Nothing to do with us
guv!" It's these greedy, naughty, Pilots wat dun it!
Don't you see that?:ugh:
I'm sorry if this is rather depressing, but I do feel that it's
the way things have gone, and willgo in future!

52049er 4th April 2008 14:24

It is no longer April 1st. I thought I had better confirm that before passing on the news that BA have issued a legal claim against BALPA for damages caused by harm to the BA brand caused by the threat of a strike.

Perhaps they see damaging the brand as their fiefdom and are merely protecting their jobs.

Words fail me....

wiggy 4th April 2008 14:35

52049er

With the BALPA site being "back to the future" I'll have to take your word for it.

If it is true it reminds me the behaviour of my 9 year old on a bad day - " not my fault, he did it" and other such phrases spring to mind.

Hand Solo 4th April 2008 14:55

Storminnorm - you credit BA management with more cunning than they deserve, but the whole crux of your theory is that pilots now won't strike because it'll break BA. Well, it won't and we will if necessary, so you can probably put that one to bed.

Storminnorm 4th April 2008 15:39

My pessimism

Sorry I'm so negative about this whole sorry business Hand Solo
but I do fear for the whole shooting match at Big Airline.
These are very devious people, well versed in employing all
sorts of underhand tricks to achieve their own ends.
Their sense of self worth, and screw the rest is just unbelievable,
and can be best described as TOTAL arrogance.
I do hope that you are right in what you say, but I am worried
about the "Immovable Object" and "Iresistable Force" situation
that seems to be developing.
Could result in a major disaster!
I will put it to bed then, but the best of luck to all at BA,
(excluding you know who!)
