An AN12 lost its U/C after landing at Lungi Airport Freetown Sierra Leone on or around the 31st Dec 07. No injuries reported. Pictures below (Hopefully):

Some tyres can still be used. No problem.
|
Anyone got stats on how many of these are still out there...
you know where I'm coming from...:E |
TwoOneFour Typical. Just as the wheels touch down, the aeroplane comes off. |

Front runner for "Post of the year" :ok::ok::ok:

Looks like Africa West , who are based in Lome will be looking for another aircraft
|
Good to see the flaps are fully retracted
|
Obviously the fact that the tyre had so much tread, the u/c couldnt cope with the extra weight...
|
They shouldn't have any trouble picking another one up, there are plenty AN12s lying across Africa :hmm:
Oh, you mean SERVICEABLE ones...:E |
The pictures remind me somehow of the movie "Lord of War" with Nicholas Cage when his rented Antonov got scavenged by locals.
|
It looks like a result of US airlines' outsourced maintenance.
