Firstly, may I say that I am not 'Man Flex 32.5'.

Having read all of the above with great interest I am now convinced that applying to easyJet would be a foolish decision. Yes, it does all depend upon your present set of circumstances and some are more desperate than others. I probably fit the criteria that easyJet are asking for and I know that at least a dozen or so of my close F/O colleagues do as well. However, we have a very stable roster, flying on average 60 to 70 hours each month with lots of time off. The pay is reasonable and on a par with other Airbus operators. Command maybe some time away (two or three years - maybe more) but for me it's a case of better the devil you know.

P.S. I'm very lucky and I know it.:ok:

I hope I am never in the position of having to rely on PPrune threads to help me decide whether or not to apply for a job!!!!

Don't forget, some people on this BB can spend days getting wound up about a go-around!

Well this is the latest email I received from Easy jet (6 times in succession). on 26/9/03.
............................................................ .....................................

Are you a Direct Entry Captain immediately available or at short notice (4 weeks or less)?
* Are you currently rated (with command experience) on a jet over 45 tonnes?
* Do you have 3,000 factorised hours TT and at least 500 factorised hours in command on jets over 45 tonnes?

If you have answered yes to ALL of the above questions then we could offer you an immediate assessment and start date if successful.

If you are interested, please email you name, current aircraft type and total hours ONLY to [email protected]

Please be advised that we cannot respond to any email received that doesn't fit ALL of the above criteria. I you do not meet these requirements but have recently submitted an application, don't worry, we hope to be able to contact you soon!

We look forward to hearing from you!

The Flight Operations Recruitment Team
............................................................ .............................................
What I would like to know is do they actually employ anybody from all these recruitment bashes or is it just a ruse to get everyone talking about easy jet. If they are recruiting from them where are all the empty left and right seats going to ??. They can’t all be due to downsizing of other airlines and not being replaced……can they?

Personally, and I know I am not the only one in this position. Having completed my MCC course on 14 Sept (watching the twin towers collapse on TV during this) after having sat through 14 months of purgatory doing the JAR written’s (what a shambles that was ! ) successfully completing a first time pass in the CPL and IR examinations. Attending several road shows, sending out numerous applications, and to this date not ONE positive reply from any operation.

Does anyone have the answer.

Man Flex 1st Oct 2003 04:17

Muttus,

You are not the only person on this earth to have passed his CPL and ATPL theory first time or his IR. Neither are you the first person to be searching for that elusive first job for more than two weeks. When it does come you will be more appreciative of it. Having been flying for 10 years before I got the sniff of my first commercial job and spent another three years before I had my ATPL issued I think I know what I'm talking about. I see you have your ATPL issued already! :8

I appreciate your comments.
But this isn't 2 weeks its 2 years!!!!!!!!!

How long do you have to wait........... How longs a piece of string...

HolyMoley 1st Oct 2003 18:22

It seems to be that it's only those that haven't worked for an airline that think a first time pass will put them on the top of the pile. :hmm:2 years to wait was no time at all 10 years ago, after Dan and Air Europe.

It's a tough biz Muttus. Everyone that wants the job gets qualified. It has everything to do with timing and the economy. The person that would not be looked at one year is being sought after the next. Hang in there and keep plugging away, everyone is in the same boat in this atrocious world economy we have currently.

Easy will be acquiring initially 120+ airbus aircraft. Say 6 crews per aircraft. That is close on 1500 "bums on seats" required.

The food chain will resolve this problem.

New drivers start with a turbo prop operator - BACx, Loganair etc. Those turbo prop drivers with say 2 years experence and 1000+ hours TP with an ATPL issued are ideally placed for Easy.

The future looks bright, the future is orange.

commands at easy

Come on m mouse the gripe is at least 50 FO,s have been shafted repetedly at Easy, even the ex chief trainer took up the case and the answer he got, it is nothing to do with the training department.

If command assesments are nothing to do with them, WHAT IS, senior captain Ltn, less than 3 years command time, failed his sim, so badly he had to work in the office untill he managed to pass it, and he is the one who makes the decision who goes forward.

and Col Klink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!what a load of crap, you put in 2 years on the tax deal???what actually happened was you heard of the deal an accountant set up for GO and you asked him to do the same for easy as he did for them. That took you 2 years!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems by many accounts that you take credit for other peoples efforts, as you have at Easy and Brunei.

It seems by your history you often take credit for other people, to hide your lack of ability at Easy and Brunei

Freddie-M 17th Oct 2003 15:33

Have any bus rated pilots had an answer from EJ yet? It's a month since I applied online and replied to the round robin e-mail, but not a word from EJ.

Fly-by-night 18th Oct 2003 01:06

Hatlipz,

"failed his sim, so badly he had to work in the office untill he managed to pass it, and he is the one who makes the decision who goes forward"

Substantiate or retract this libellous drivel !

Colonel Klink 18th Oct 2003 07:52

Hatlipz, On no account did the man who did the work for Go do our work, this man now works for easyJet as well. We used someone else from a London firm of accountants who I was put onto through Balpa. Get your facts straight!
Why did it take me two years? Because I did the rest of the work myself and there was a lot to do. I also did the Cabin Crew taxation rebate, the trainers office pay and our Fixed allowance, which you now enjoy.
Pretty tough sneering at my efforts which put thousands in your pocket, where were you when the hard work needed to be done?
As for taking credit in Brunei, for what? I hardly think so!!!!

You are bitter and twisted individual, with less manners than common sense, if that is possible.

pipex 19th Oct 2003 00:31

I got 6 EasyJet e-mails about this Stupid Road show they have,I went to the one in Manchester,Poorly organized.
I don't Konw about other people, but it looks like the 6 e-mails are related to the six times I sent the application.

overstress 19th Oct 2003 03:58

I will relate my EZY experience to any type-rated airbus pilot who e-mails me. I will not post it up here, but from what I've seen they will have a hard job filling the demand with sufficiently experienced people.
