Emergency landing at DUB?

Curiously, the aircraft concerned is "Aer Lingus" but operating from Belfast, presumably the journo misheard "Aer Arann"? Seems to be quite a number of journo induced errors in this copy...

There are reports of an expected crash landing at Dublin Airport in the next few minutes.

Traffic has been frozen between the airport and the Belfast and Dublin-bound route.

It is said to be an Aer Lingus plane bound for Belfast that has developed hydraulic problems.

The plane is trying to dump fuel and return to Dublin Airport.

Looks like the journalist got a lot wrong with his story. It was the 08:00 EI to LGW. More reliable information here:

point of information

Well done to the crew first of all, all safe and sound.

The M1 was scheduled to be closed from 0800 to 2000 or so today to open the new motorway next week. The traffic delays had nothing to do with the emergency. You just wish journo types would try a bit harder!

Furthermore, is it actually possible to dump fuel from a BAe 146?

The EI 146's do seem to have fuel the ability to dump fuel, as ably demonstrated on stand 17 a few months back at Dublin.
