Balpa- was that the best they could do
I just recieved the latest 'Log' and read with interest the deal Balpa negotiated on behalf of the easyjet pilots and was quite shocked at how poor it looks at face value.
I was one of those in Ryanair that voted for Balpa to negotiate for us a few years ago however that never happened but as a pilot body we still managed on our own to secure:
5 on 3 off fixed
Day off payments (not given before)
Annual Leave payments (not given before)
Increased sector pay
3% pay increase guaranteed for 5 years with a clause to review after 3years if inflation went through the roof.
£100,000 worth of share options.
With quality of life high on the agenda particularly in low cost the biggy for me is how on earth Balpa went for 6 on 3 off when Ryanair set the low cost model in this country with 5 on 3 off.
I never thought i would say it but if thats the best they could do I'm glad we went to the Ryanair management alone.

How true - don't get me started on this one. In fact 'The Log' puts it in a good light: the truth flight crew have to pay 1,100 quid a year for the substandard food we are receiving. And that is just the start.
No wonder eJ pilots esp. ex-Go are voting with their feet and going to Ryanair.
