Does anyone know what happened to the Nairobi airways 787 that was intercepted and diverted to STN today? Happened about 1445z apparently.

Well virtual radar rather than the genuine variety, but yes.

Standard caveat on the flight-trackers where a significant portion of the route is out of range of the feeders:

Really ??

I'd be fascinated to see an example of that flight being tracked continuously from origin to destination.

The colurs along that track suggest that FR24 has filled in the missing bits - a join the dots exercise.

Having watched a/c go out of coverage overland in Oz it's no surprise that FR24 lacks feeds in Africa!!

Exactly. Plus the pop-up warning to help colour-blind FR24 users that I showed in my previous post.

I really wouldn't read too far into random aircraft suddenly appearing over Russia, FlightRadar24 themselves today had an issue with false ADS-B data being fed/injected to their servers causing most of the aircraft over Moscow to appear to be squawking 7700, my phone was pinging none stop for about half an hour with the alerts, they've since tweeted to acknowledge it. Plenty of people using false flight tracks/ADS-B data as a tool to spread false/disinformation or cause panic to the unknowing. Could be "script kiddies" as they're known messing around or people with more sinister intent, either way, pay no attention too it.
