Canada to hand over the seized AN124 to Ukraine

I wonder how much it will take to get it airworthy again and I suppose it’s racked up enough parking fees etc for Canada to claim it.
I suppose it’s future will include avoiding any airspace which is Russian.

Let's just hope it doesn't end up as a target elsewhere.

Small fry compared with all the leased aircraft stolen by Russia.

Sounds the right thing to do, but: what was the legal basis for this confiscation and than handing over to another party? Anyone?

Looks to be little more than wishful thinking.

While the airport is certainly entitled to impound the aircraft against unpaid user charges, that's a long way from being free to sell it to the highest bidder.

It might need interesting paperwork. Didn't the Russians do heavy maintenance without (Ukrainian) manufacturer authorization on their An-124s?
