Where are we going to?

Today,

European low cost carrier, backed by mighty financial institution, did something very strange ( to say that at least) .

All passengers boarded and aircraft was about to start ( CTOT -one hour)

All of sudden, passengers disembarked followed by baggage offloading.
New flight plan to airport 200Nm away. Empty leg.

Why?

If they continue with flight from our airport they will lost some other sectors latter that day.
Yes, I know for yield management, for ops issues, base vs non base airport, but offload passengers and fly empty legs....

They offered to our passengers - flight tomorrow from another airport ( 3 hours away)- if there are empty seats available when they arrive at that airport

Or
Even better solution- the next flight to that particular destination in a few days.

Where our lovely industry is going to?

Where is integrity and reliability?
