Filming on short final
Happened on final to runway 13 in AEP, Buenos Aires. Both pilots where filming with there mobiles as shown on the video in the link below.
Smart thing to do by these Austral guys, as smart as sharing the video!

Watch right at the end. Capt in left hand seat pans right to film the fireworks and FO is also filming on his phone. Really, are they 10 to be that impressed by fireworks and so unprofessional? and there are people on here who say pilots are miles smarter than doctors because there are fewer pilots than doctors. It makes me very worried.

Re the F/.O taking photos with his phone on finals that reminds me of a line in an old French movie where the capt is trying to land a DC3 with 1/4 flaps on a very small bush runway :
F/O : We are not going to make it !

For those subject to US regulations, the use of any personal electronic device (PED) is prohibited by a crew member occupying a control seat from brake release to brake set. An electronic flight bag is only an EFB while accessing required flight material, any other use turns the EFB into a PED.
FAR 121.542:
(d) During all flight time as defined in 14 CFR 1.1, no flight crewmember may use, nor may any pilot in command permit the use of, a personal wireless communications device (as defined in 49 U.S.C. 44732(d)) or laptop computer while at a flight crewmember duty station unless the purpose is directly related to operation of the aircraft, or for emergency, safety-related, or employment-related communications, in accordance with air carrierprocedures approved by the Administrator.

So the EGPWS 1000 foot call goes off and 14 seconds later one of them calls "gear down" (what height above ground are they at by this time) and I can't hear a landing checklist being conducted, then almost immediately after we hear another EGPWS call. Then we see both pilots are seen with their phones filming the fireworks... Who's minding the store?
If I were the chief pilot, they would both be fired or at the very least a nice suspension without pay!

-Diverted attention If the pilots were listening to a soccer match on the radio, their attention was surely diverted from flying the aircraft and monitoring their situation.

There are suggestions that the flight crew was listening to Brazil vs. Chile World Cup match in the radio1, another example of a hazardous attitude.

Worst written regulation contender (specifically this part: 'a personal wireless communications device (as defined in 49 U.S.C. 44732(d))" . You can use a full size video/SLR as long as it doesn't have WiFi or Bluetooth, or watch movies on a 40" monitor hooked up to a portable DVD player (again, just make sure no WiFi/Bluetooth) during the whole flight, but take a picture in cruise of the sunset with your cellphone in airplane mode, and you are in violation of 121.542.

I think this kind of thing happens everyday now, not saying its right of course but I guess the job has become so repetitive and mind numbing that this is what people resort to

Northwest Airlines flight 188, 21 October 2009 flew 150 miles beyond it's destination. The investigation had the crew admitting to using their laptops to check their schedules which would have placed them in breach of this part of the regs, Lack of information on the CVR meant investigators could not clearly identify any level activity on the flight deck which led to the suggestion that both crew were asleep until awoken by the Flight Attendant Chime asking when they were expected to land. Not relevant to this thread except in terms of what some crews may be doing from time to time (and getting away with). In the cruise is one thing but on short finals? I guess it was CAVOK but some unexpected windshear might have got their attention....or not!

Repetitive and mind numbing until an airplane, it’s passengers, flight attendants and cockpit crew are ground up into little pieces.
