The TV has been full of 50th anniversary stuff this week. I had no idea how much material there is from the time. All the families had a ‘squawk box’ in their living rooms feeding live comms (no way that would happen now) and were filmed watching events as they unfolded on TV.
A particularly fascinating piece of film was a close up of Jim Lovell’s wife watching the launch of Apollo 8 the Xmas before the moon landing. To say that she looked worried would be a massive understatement.
Hats off to all the thousands of men and women involved in such an amazing achievement.
