Notwithstanding the unfortunate series of events resulting in a chartered EirJet A320 with some 30 or so passengers from EGGP landing at the (disused) Ballykelly airfield instead of EGAE.

NO ENTRY
The French, I believe, had a great idea of putting a bloody great 'NO ENTRY' sign at the end of an out of use runway. That's a sign that everybody knows and it sends a straight forward message 'Don't use this runway!'

Is there a pilot that doesn’t know that a “bloody great X” also means that a runway is not available for use? Accepted that in this case the ‘X’ may not have been sufficiently visible.
