An emer descent is a fairly (vertically) steep manouvre, and if you have a fair SA you would sort of be aware of the closest traffic to you...
It's not like they are flying everyone on top of each other either

Not wishing to argue with you,..but just a small point,...If you have never suffered the startle factor,you may not appreciate that a tired crew,experiencing a rapid decompression,may we'll start an immediate descent.
In real life,we may expect to see a variety of interpretations of this manoeuvre.
However,as I said.."Hurricanes hardly ever..etc..."
Safe flying to us all..Just trying to provoke thought..
