In sane parts of the world, where interconnects are allowed between fire systems and access control systems, a fire being detected unlocks all the doors.

In airports, by contrast, a fire being detected locks all the doors, because it would otherwise be too easy for a bad guy to cause a bit of smoke and get wherever he liked.
