Photos of the incident show a forlorn airplane tipped on its nose after its front landing gear collapsed. The damage “looks like it could be quite expensive,” says one expert.

Some of Boeing’s early 787 Dreamliners were so messed up during assembly that they were unsuitable for sale to an airline and sat in storage for years with no takers. A few were eventually sold off to be expensively re-worked as private VIP jets.
Adding a sad coda to that woeful history, last Thursday in Moses Lake, one of those VIP airplanes fell on its face.
As the jet sat on the ramp at Grant County International Airport, where a custom interior was being installed, the nose landing gear collapsed. The carbon-fiber forward fuselage hit the ground, as did the engine pods.

The airplane, Dreamliner No. 11, was bought by Korean Air for use as a Korean government VIP transport jet.

It’s generally not the contact with the ground that does the most harm, rather the force reacted into structure from the weight of the aircraft being supported through the NLG retraction jack.

Hundreds of thousands, if not millions of highly skilled and paid technicians across the industry would look at you and, well, best not said.

Poor sight ! I do not know what this black part is on the photo near the stairs, could it be that the stairs were under the opened door and it ripped off a skin panel as the nose fell down?
Wonder if it will fly again. .

The Ethiopian 787 that sat on its nose at Addis Ababa in March 2016 was back in service a few months later, and that one was fuelled and full of passengers when it happened.

I hope so too. These nose gear collapses seems to be a known problem then .. No pin ?

Dave Cameron always fancied one but it just wouldn't fit with popularity after the jokes about the plotted Blairforce 1. He just chartered big jets instead on the sly.

This aircraft was in mods to become the VIP transport for the Government of South Korea, replacing the current B747-400.
