Chinese news reports that a passenger was stopped when trying to take fireworks through as hand luggage. When stopped, their reaction was "I might as well set them off now, then, and did, injuring themself and 3 others.

They are now 'helping police with their enquiries'.

There seems to be two conflicting reports here. Did he pack the fireworks in a beer bottle?

China wants to keep a very, very tight lid on this type of news. Luckily the ubiquity of phone cameras and the bravery of ordinary people helps continue the flow of information.

Perhaps if we in the west did the same (as far as terrorist acts are concerned), they (the terrorists) might lose their motivation if their actions weren't plastered all over the press.

You are suggesting that we censor the media so the public are not aware what is going on? That's rather a dangerous precedent don't you think?

The censoring of the media and the state control thereof is hardly isolating China from terrorist acts...

What I think is that all the press terrorists get these days motivates them even more. What would you suggest?

I agree with your statement... its their lifeblood and enhances their power, terror sensationalism, and minimises their work as the press do it for them.

Not being a coward who abandons his principles at the smallest sign of trouble?
