Blue Air B734 at Cluj, runway excursion on landing
Blue Air B734 at Cluj, runway excursion on landing, snow deposits on rwy.
Rwy length: 2100m.

A Blue Air Boeing 737-400, registration YR-BAS performing flight 0B-9301 from Bucharest Otopeni to Cluj (Romania) with 110 passengers and 6 crew, landed on Cluj's runway 25 at 08:02L (06:02Z) but overran the end of of the runway by about 20 meters (65 feet) and came to a stop with all gear on the paved surface of the runway end safety area. No injuries occurred, the aircraft sustained no damage. The passengers disembarked normally via mobile stairs and were bussed to the terminal.

Tower: Can you confirm runway excursion? Any damage? Need to inform ground.
Pilot: Runway excursion, right side. We're now shutting down engines. Looks like we hit ground with one engine. No casualties.
Tower: Confirm right side, informing ground. Confirm, no casualties, help is coming. Runway closed.
Pilot: We need a fire engine to take a look at us from outside, we can't see the whole thing. We're fine, no fire danger. Need to know if we can deploy slides or wait for stairs.
Tower: Confirm, 1st car is at site. We can't see any damage to the plane.
"We're off the runway" and "runway excursion" very close when attempted in Romanian.

Amazing that, with just a little bit of French and Spanish, I can mostly read Romanian TV captions! "Romance language", indeed.
