Must be a feature of India. I recall a few years ago an ATR-72 ran over a crocodile in the monsoon rains

A friend of mine hit a sheep on a runway in New Zealand.
Another hit a zebra in Botswana, Another occasion was a warthog.
I've had numerous close encounters with pigs, cows, dogs and humans in Indonesia. And had to look for polar bears at a remote strip in the North of Canada.

It's a fact of life flying into rural airports. Just because you are cleared to land, doesn't mean the runway is clear!
