Nose gear retracted landing - KIAH

US Airways flight makes emergency landing without nose gear at Houston airport | abc7.com

More importantly, a giant snail was confiscated earlier in the day by customs at IAH.

That's what I call a full day...

Last time i heard of airplanes, they were changing the small roller to the nose. Now it seems that it will find it`s way back to the tail end. Safer that way.

The AvHerald report gives a very colorful account too.
The crew reported that they briefly had a green nose and green main but the nose turned red afterwards, now they had all red,

Yes, but with the nose that low it must have been easier to get under the height-restriction!

I was surprised to see the rear slides out. I wouldn't want to go down one that was that steep.

According to NBC, one passenger was slightly injured and taken to hospital.

Minor injuries (or worse) are not uncommon during a slide evacuation.

Be interesting to find out why the gear didn't come down.
Last time this happened on an e-jet it was due to the crew using the override to select gear up before the oleo had fully extended after lift-off. That resulted in a change in the QRH highlighting not to use it unless you are obstacle limited after an engine failure and the gear lever doesn't move.

The nose gear will only fit if its in the proper position and will jam otherwise.
