Ukrainan An-12 crash at Tamanrasset

An Ukrainan registered An-12 crashed soon after takeoff from Tamanrasset (South Algeria) at 02:44 LT (01:44UTC) this morning. Flight had seven crew on board, was carrying oil equipment from Prestwick to Equatorial Guinea. Aircraft lost contact three minutes after takeoff, wreckage was located after sunrise 15km south of the airport in a mountainous area, no survivors.

Departed Prestwick 16:00 local yesterday, having arrived there from home base via two-hour stopover at Shannon ( I thought was a bit of an odd dogleg )
