EK have been flying transatlantic for the past 8 years if my memory serves me correctly and one service was DXB-HAM-JFK, so nothing new I'm afraid.

They dropped HAM-JFK several years ago, but EK have been flying direct DXB-JFK for many years with A340, 777 and now A380 twice daily.

FRying, you must know more about this than I do, because I can't see how EK flying Milan-JFK is going to hurt AF, BA or LH much. Apart from the pax originating in Milan, of course.

It'll give American and Delta something to think about. Alitalia switched off brain a long time ago.

It may do if EK start a DXB-LHR-JFK route or DXB-FRA-JFK or DXB-CDG-JFK.

Don't see what's unusual about that PIA serve New York out of Manchester

The issue is not about where you fly from or to, rather its a case of wether you've been granted 5th/6th freedom rights to pickup passengers and carry them onwards!
