ANA overrun Shonai Airport
Kyodo reporting an ANA overrun at Shonai. I'm in Yamagata. We had more than 30cm overnight last night and it's been snowing all day. Shonai usually gets a bit less than us.

Can't tell what the runway condition was at the time of the incident, but looks pretty clean afterwards. EXCEPT for the end-of-runway (by Google Maps) maneuvering area to make the required one-eighty and backtrack. Sure as hell (my excuses to @Pontifex) that last bit of maneuvering concrete wasn't clean and tidy.
Maybe the poor guys didn't overrun as such, but ended up in the grass while misjudging the exact spot to make the U-turn.

* just trying to avoid subpoena from Japanese airport & airline authorities, newpapers, religions, PPRuNe readers, etc in case they got inspired by some legal department based in an unmentioned far western-european island

Thanks for the links DIBO. I'm surprised they were landing from the WSW, as we've been in a westerly airstream for the past few weeks (general observation, I don't know the actual weather conditions at the time). The snow there is relatively thin, I can still see the stubble. Daytime temperature here are well above freezing, but we had a hard frost on Saturday night.
