How inconsiderate - they had the nerve to crash near a runway. How on earth can supposed professionals question the time it takes for the AAIB to check the immediate area????? Perhaps the same professionals can comment why the aircraft was allegedly not de-iced.....?

I still have mixed emotions about responding to this thread. However, it is clear that some have little knowledge and fortunately have never seen carnage the likes of which we saw last week.

The U.K. is currently in the depths of winter with limited daylight hours in which to carry out a painstaking investigation. For obvious reasons, those involved, required the hours of daylight in which to conduct their tasks so that the correct determination of the accident can be drawn.

The remains of this aircraft were in part in the LSA - well within 137m of the rwy c/l for CAT III
ops. Indeed, part of the investigation took place within CAT I safeguarded areas. If you check Met data you will note that part of that 48 hours was spent in LVP's.

Did the investigators wish jet blast and wake vortices interfering with the evidence?

Would you have expected sensitive people and those already nervous of flying to have been taxied out past this.

And please, have some respect; the five who lay there have left behind families with shattered lives.
