Post Passengers Refuse To Fly Volare

The farse that is Volare Airlines entered a new chapter this week with their attempts to operate long haul. One of the first flights, originally an Air Europe direct flight, STD 0745 from Milan Malpensa to Cancun STA 1905, departed MXP at 1400 routing via Glasgow and then N Atlantic non-etops route leaving 11 passengers who refused to fly and those passengers who did fly were not ammused. The flight eventually arrived in CUN at 0630 the following day. A sub-chartered L10-11 was brought in to cover the delays but this also caused problems as passengers refused to fly as it was not a B767 as expected.

Now are we surprised?
No we are not.
They -Volare management- are not willing to learn anything from the vastly experienced Air Europe. They want to do everything on the cheap-including pilots salary!
But guess what! The passengers no a pig in a poke when they see one. They know when they are being shafted even if some of the pilots do not! They will most certainly vote with their feet!
And who is picking up the bill for there amatuer attempts at longhaul?
Yes, Air Europe Italy!!!! Stricia la notizia, this may be one for you!!!!
Passengers & shareholders beware! I fear that this farce is not over yet-watch this space.

On a serious note it is with great sadness that we watch these people destroying a great company like Air Europe Italy.

As we all know Volare know better than anyone else, they have demonstrated this by their history of c**ck-ups and mismanagement.
Lets hope they do not have an emergency.

So what is to be done?
Well all you professional guys & girls in Volare Airlines, unless some of you stick up for your profession & say enough is enough then you will just have to put up with it!
The day you allow management to compromise your safe operation is the day you cease to be a professional pilot!

Charter Flight Firm Opposes Rival's Licensing

The Nation (Nairobi)

January 8, 2002
Posted to the web January 7, 2002

An air charter company has sued the government for granting a rival a licence to ferry tourists from Italy.

But the case, lodged by East African Safari Air Ltd, failed to proceed yesterday before vacation duty Judge Joyce Aluoch for lack of prosecution.

Lady Justice Aluoch adjourned the case indefinitely when the charter company's lawyer, Dr Albert Mumma, failed to appear when the file was called out.

The firm is seeking permission to file a judicial review case against the Civil Aviation Board and the Ministry of Transport and Communication.

It seeks orders to quash the authority granted by the board to Sunline Air/Volare to operate four charter flights to East Africa and wants a letter by the Permanent Secretary, Provincial Administration, directing the board's G.R. N. Githinji to approve the application quashed.

EASA wants Sunline Air/Volare barred from amending, renewing or using the licence, without complying with the laws governing civil aviation.

It also wants the board compelled to say why it gave the licence to Sunline Air/Volare last May 9, to operate inclusive tour charters although it had raised objections.

EASA accuses the board of allowing Sunline Air to operate four ad hoc charter flights.

It says it "has just learnt of the existence of the ad hoc license" granted to Sunline Air which planned to fly in a Boeing 767 aircraft from Italy to Mombasa via Rome and Zanzibar today and January 15.

The board approved the licence contrary to the law, it argues, adding that the licensing had resulted "to uneconomical overlapping severely prejudicing" its interests.

Where have recent Volare pilot departures gone? Which airlines have taken ex-Volare pilots? Are we talking original Volare pilots or the former AEI pilots? Where have they gone to? Any examples?. .. .Best of luck to all involved!. .. .Ciao

Confusing to find this old thread back in the limelight again.. .Lavdumper, me thinks that nobody is going to say were we are all going. The point is that finally people are voting with their feet.Just think about the fact that captains have left the Boeing 777 fleet to fly B.737s. (nothing wrong with this aircraft I may add!). .As for any further quotes about Volare I think it has all been said & everybody on this forum is probably bored about us airing our own problems.. .Just one last point from me. If Volare Group decides to get involved with Eurofly it will be a most interesting affair. I am sure the much better organised, syndicate minded Eurofly pilots will prove a much tougher nut to crack!. .Good luck to one & all!. .

It seems that VLE is out of the race for Eurofly (just bought the Swiss out of VLE Group). The final two horses still running seem to be the Rusconi family and Benetton family.. .Just heard that some VLE pilots are even refusing to sign the A330 "bond".Interesting and costly I guess.
