Yes, it is open. I think it has been open since somewhere mid february. I already had the pleasure to fly over it last week.. .It was very quiet on the frequency...strange..

I saw a NOTAM yesterday about this. Restrictions are (from my memory...): only some airways, FL310-390, 15 minutes separation, daylight only, permission required and some more. It also said that "there is a war going on in the area, so operators fly in this airspace at their own risk".

I don't think that Evergreen was on a UN charter, I believe it was for Mercy Corps and US NGOs, not the UN.. .. .As for details of what is and isn't permitted, the airspace procedures and state of airfields currently in use are posted on www.unjlc.org/ . .. .According to the aviation bulletins which are also on the site, it seems that the authors are after operational info to pass on to all operators if you guys flying there have any extra information to offer.

Yes, Afghanistan airspace has been opened but only certain parts of it, i know PIA are flying over it on their way to europe and back again cutting the journey times by about 45mins
