BBC Radio four news just said 99 of Iberia's 1900 pilots resigned and that all flights from 11pm this evening have been cancelled.

IB´s CEO announced this evening that all flight ops were to be suspended as from midnight tonite. The reason offered by IB is the resignation of 99 union pilots holding responsabilities in the ops department (inspectors, instructors, fleet chiefs...etc). Union says resignation is a fact but that all pilots involved agreed to continue on their position until adecuate replacement was to be found and that it was up to the company to decide when the resignation was to take effect.

Management lockout in sight!!??

It's amazing that news of this magnitude are not reported on the BBC. I just woke up watched the Breakfast News in bed and they never even mentioned this even though it may affect a lot of people. It goes to show that the media and their news programmes are all SH*T. They show what THEY want and not what's going on.

I read that the resignations were from pilot management posts only and that those involved were not resigning from their flying jobs. Anyone know any more?

Doodles

Entirely exact. These pilots resigned from their management position and remain employed with Iberia.
I was in New York last week and got to talk with some IB fellows. All they are claiming is the 15 % they gave to the compagny when it was having a difficult time. They don't even claim it in one installment but within 3 or 4 years. I wouldn't call that greedy.

Just go that info of CNN :

....The pilots' union is seeking a 20-percent pay raise and better pensions.

...The 99 pilots belong to the pilot's Sepla trade union and are responsible for flight operations

Cheers!
