Post BY 767 returns to MAN following "smell of burning"

"An airliner packed with holidaymakers bound for the US has made an emergency landing after a smell of burning was detected.

The pilot of Britannia Airways flight BY529A to Orlando, Florida, decided to return to Manchester airport after the smell was reported at the rear of the aircraft one hour into the eight-hour journey.

A spokeswoman for the airline says the pilot of the Boeing 767 made an emergency landing and the 315 passengers were asked to return to the terminal.

She added: "The passengers are all fine. The captain spoke to them. They were sent into the terminal for their own comfort while the engineers check the aircraft out and see what is the matter."

The flight is due to depart later today, a spokeswoman for the airport said."

Cool

And the landing was good even though he still had 40 tonne of fuel on board. 10 out of 10.
