Question Canadian Airliner Ran out of Fuel in So. America?

About a week ago I heard one report on the radio (US NPR) about a Canadian commercial aircraft running out of fuel somewhere in South America. It made a successful but hard landing (they interviewed an "airport official" by telephone). I have heard nothing since and searches have returned no results. Anybody know more?

The aircraft landed in the Azores and there are threads here if you roll back the days in view as well as a current one over on tech log.
