Question Another Swiss Carrier

Hi all

A new swiss charter carrier is being set up with recruitment going through a US agency. Operation is to start for the winter flight plan; neither destination nor equipment was disclosed by the very reliable source at this time.

I’m sure that the set-up organisation might want to keep things under wrap as long as possible, but as this is a rumour network I was wondering if there were any other speculations out there.

Cheers

Figure that with all the jobless pilots in CH there will be absolutely NO WAY foreigners will get a work permit - unless they fly something no Swiss has ever been rated for.

Antonov's & Tupolievs and god help me - the Guv's favourites.

The project you're most probably talking about was set up by Brian Johnston of Aviation World Services (www.aviationworldservices.com) for undisclosed investors and is presumably called "Air Switzerland". They put some employment adds in Swiss newspapers and announced to do interviews in ZRH this week. The goal seems to be to service the destinations Capetown, Singapore, Bangkok, Las Vegas, Montreal, Orlando, San Francisco, Tokio and Peking from ZRH using several self-owned A340-300.. .A rather obscure endeavour it seems as nobody seems to have any solid or confirmed info about this (german-speakers might want to have a look at http://blick.ch/PB2G/PB2GA/pb2ga.htm?snr=25389).

Question

I would be very interested in their answer to you, N380UA, because a set-up application by aeropers received a wischi-waschi answer in the direction of "yeah, well, very nice, we'll be in Switzerland in a couple of weeks, would be good to see you" ,but no appointment, no simride, no selection.. .Keep us informed, please

I know at least two people who went to their "group assessment" with this company today. Haven't seen them since, so no more info for the moment.

There where no more new information, than in the newspress, on that day in ZRH Hilton held by Aviation World Services!. .. .They say that they can not talk about investors and have no management yet!. .. .I think before you are looking for employees there should be more structure behind a new serious company!. .. .As there is a homepage fore the jobless Swissair Pilots ( www.airjob.ch) it would be very easy to find the right pilots very fast.. .. .All the best

Not heard that one JetPilot. Air Switzerland seem to have big plans for A340 but no management in place and no significant cash pile. Seems to be a concept by a Swiss Travel Agent, supported by Aviation World Services but how they are going to sustain a long haul charter operation with 6-8 A340 god only knows.. .. .The TV here last night threw another hat into the ring as it announce Dr Ernst Tomke (Mr Swatch amongst other things)and an acknowledged restructuring expert was leading a consortium to try to buy Swissair and stop Crossair.. .. .Now this could get interesting.

Hi Jetpilot.. .. .The company that you´re thinking of is already flying for a few months, first as a wet lease (LX crews), now with their own crews. I think they are called Odetta, or something like that. Nothing new I´m affraid.

Robert is right: The company calls itselfe "Odette Airways" (www.odetteairways.ch - not very useful) and serves PRN, SKP and OHD out of ZRH using a former LX MD-80 series.

A total of six pilots (3 commanders, 3 f/o) will be operating the Odette MD-83 out of Zurich. Commanders will also get training for RH seat ops to be more flexible in crew planning if f/o call in sick..... .. .EC
