Pizza Express is absolutely right.
If the very next lease after these 5 is not renewed then unfasten your seatbelts and get the hell out!
Mind you, where to????

My every sympathy for the crews affected. I hope things work out for them all.

About the timing, if there was chance you might lose your job, wouldn't you rather know before Xmas so you didn't max your credit card out? It won't make Xmas any easier for the families, but I hope they are now able to plan more practically for the uncertain times ahead.

Having lost my job just before Christmas last year, I can from experience state this is the worst time possible. It is so frustrating to be chasing a new job when everyone else is winding down for Christmas and does not really want to know. All you hear is 'we'll be looking at that in January', and nothing really moves from the beginning of December until Jan 10th. I was lucky enough to land another job in January, but it made for a depressing Christmas. There is no good time to lose a job, but at least after Christmas means you can crack on with job hunting straight away.

Good luck to all involved.

Surprised this has taken so long. You could see it coming in.................2002.

Always the workforce that suffer. The owners, past or present, won't lose a wink of sleep or any dosh. Worthless money grabbers.

Mainline next. Get out while you can, if you can, but that's a big "if" at the moment.
