Aborted Take Offs At Athens Airport
Two aborted take offs were made this evening at Athens Airport.
The first being KF894, MD90(OHBLD)ATH-HEL aborted on runway 21L at 21:59 local time due to fire indication at engine no.2,. A/C RR and remains AOG.
The second, G9 282,A320(A6ABB) ATH-SHJ,aborted on runway 21L at 23:37 local time due to a very loud noise heard from engine no.2. A/C RR where it is now being inspected by the onboard Air Arabia ground engineer.

I was on the already late Easyjet flight to LGW that ended up having to hold for thirty minutes while they inspected the runway following the Air Arabia jet. We were told it had dropped a panel off the engine. Was a bit of an eventful weekend for me given that I was on this one too.
