Talking PIA - good news finally !

PIA to buy 7 used aircraft

. .By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Feb 21: A high-level meeting here on Thursday allowed the PIA authorities to purchase seven second-hand aircraft for which the US Export and Import (EXIM) Bank will also provide considerable funding.

Informed sources told Dawn that the meeting, presided over by Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz and attended by Chairman and Managing Director of the PIA, representatives of EXIM Bank and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, approved the purchase of four Boeing 777 and three A-310 Airbus planes.

The seven aircraft, to be purchased by the PIA, will be "freshly used" and will not be very old.

Sources said the meeting was of the view that PIA should gradually replace its old fleet so that there was no major funding problem.

Exclamation

Aside from the shouting and the spelling I don't think we should be so utterly politically correct as to deny that he is absolutely right.

Notwithstanding that, we can discuss such things in the Non Air Transport Forum and try and keep this Forum for aviation related news.

Sorry to say, but this aviation related news! Have you forgotten all the crews that died? Front end and back end??! (Lets not forget the pax)Seems like most people forget tragic events after a few months. Let us not forget the root of what has happened,. .PEOPLE PLAYING THE OSTRICH. YES THAT'S THE FACT!!. .Pakistan and many other countries are responsible for what has happened on 9/11, and we all new that "something" was going to happen. .(At least the educated ones that watch things other than CNN!!). Let us not forget that the rest of the world (including the USA) is responsible for letting Milosovich and others murder thousands of people. One thing leads to another and we are all, in a sense responsible for what happens. . .A**hole remarks such as "STIRRING PEOPLE and CASTING ..what ever" is the OSTRICH syndrome!! Hide the facts and everything will work out!!!! You are an @@@@@ that has no CLUE about reality.. .History has proven that the strongest will divide and conquer the weakest, are you the weakest??. .I for one will never forget what has happened. The victims should not be forgotten and the future should be protected. . .Therefore the culprits should be publizied, reprimanded, punnished, and bannished from what we call CIVILIZATION. . .PIA should not get any "favouritism" from any country, especially after having supported Laden and others. They MUST assume their responsibilty.. .Such topics should not be debated unless one is prepared to stand up to their own convictions.

Alapt

No one has forgotten and no one has said that these things can't be discussed. I guess you haven't actually had the gumption to use the search button and see the posts that sevenforeseven has made. Another prime example is coming in to a thread and calling someone a liar and a fraud in his first post. Oh, turns out the person he was attacking wasn't who he thought he was. Now who's the ostrich ??

But as this thread is about an airline acquiring new aircraft, the plea is to keep the thread on that topic.

[quote]As this is a very busy forum please limit new topics to items of news or rumour related to public air transport.

Now, go start a world politics one in another Forum if that is your desire.

Always like to see people who resort to name calling as part of their argument. Really shows everyone what kind of person they are and their mental processes, don't you think ??

Willie Take That ?? Mmmmmmm, an extinct boy band. If we keep this thread on topic, it won't become like them
