I realise this is a very sensitive subject and i do not wish to cause offence but here goes. The notion that Virgin may be looking to lay off people according to type rather than seniority has already been raised but I also heard a rumour (from a friend in the airline) who said that management would be looking at the sickness record of individuals.
Now I thought that was against employment law ie employers could not use performance as a criteria for redundancy. Any lawyers out there?
Good luck to anybody who may be in this position

I always thought that it was very easy for companies to make employees with less than 2 years service redundant without giving any reason. This would make it a lot easier on the company without any fear of legal action from senior employees.
