Question Taxiway incident at LYS 15/1/08?

Paxing back from Lyon last night we were delayed by "an aircraft with an emergency on its way to the runway" (Captain's words) that had blocked access to the end of the runway and trapped perhaps half a dozen other departures behind it on the taxiway. We ended up joining the runway part way along, backtracking and doing a 180 to take off. Aircraft on taxiway with fire trucks and lots of other vehicles in attendance, too dark for me to see type or operator. I'm naturally curious to know what was going on - can anyone shed any light? Thanks
