Turkish Airline Istanbul

Does any one know why the turkish airlines flight from Almaty shut down just as it was clearing runway.

We were hooked up to a tug and towed and parked directly out side turkish airlines mantinance hangar.

I ask crew what the problem was but they told me there was no problem.

I just wonder what it was as i have experianced a few strange incidents in Turkey

Thanks

yeah that's it....they ran out of fuel...

i'll tell you exactly why my friend....

the MX area is a no engine area, we are not allowed to have any running engines in or around the MX area, ESP on a scheduled flight/with pax....so if the a/c is going into routine inspection, then they will taxi there, and shut down and be towed in...

so what's so strange about this and what other stange things in turkey are you talking about? you shouldt call it that until you get an explanation...

You can experience this in some form or other at many airport with many airlines if you arrive on the last flight of the day. Pax are then offloaded right in front of (not in) the hangars and brought to the terminal by bus (although never experienced "under tow", this must be a TK/IST matter as explaines above).

Does this still comply with the recommended engine cooldown time, i.e. 3 minutes for a CFM powered 737NG, prior to engine shutdown?

Cheers....FD

3 minutes from flare to shutdown is not usually a problem. Are you implying they didn't achieve this?

Kingair9...

Few years ago BA used to shutdown and tow late night arrivals into the cul-de-sac by the lower gates at T4 for 'noise polution' reasons. Probably still happens but no recent SLF experience.

NO!!!! we don't go into a routine inspection WITH pax on board for god's sake.....

we taxi UP to the mx area, we shut down, get towed in, deplane the pax via bus then hand over the aircraft to mx guys...

what's so hard to understand about this?

or....do like I have personally seen at ATL, when a certain very large airline based there dragged a wingtip with a DC9 during landing on quite a windy day, and taxied directly into a maintenance hangar and shutdown, pax deplaned into busses, pronto, and mechanics had that wing tip off in nothing flat...to be replaced of course, before any report was sent to the FAA office across the airfield....provided of course that any report was sent.
Sometimes, the truth is stranger than fiction.

noise protection at LTBA??

Cmon guys,
we all know that at Turkish Airlines things sometimes work different.Who believes that Airplanes get towed to the maintenance with Pax onboard after Touch Down in a regular basis at THY?did mechanics welcome Pax with screwdrivers instead of flowers?
Besides that there is no noise protection of nearby habitants in Istanbul.
The only thing which is sure is,that the pilots did not have enough english knowledge for an announcement.
We will see ,who is going to fly at Turkish after the english exams in march
