Due to EQUIP/FP PROCESSING and WEATHER/TSTMS ENRTE, there is a Traffic Management Program in effect for traffic arriving La Guardia Airport, New York, NY (LGA). This is causing some arriving flights to be delayed an average of 3 hours. To see if you may be affected, select your departure airport and check "Delays by Destination".

Have a look at this site:

delays of 3 hours plus...computer that would enter "canned" flight plans went down in atlanta...all flights now must be entered by hand.

imagine how duty times will be zapped with 3 hour delays...can you say....OOOPS.

Report from a DL pilot who arrived in BOS from LGA was that LGA was a complete mess with aircraft parked literally everywhere, including one of the runways. The ATC center computer issues started the mess with cascading delays, even more when one of the runways was employed as a parking lot for aircraft that could not get their clearances.

It Was A Mess !!

Spent an hour and a half holding over the long island channel and then at least an hour sitting in line waiting to take off !!! all flight plans had to be refiled computers down and a large front of enbedded storms from Canada to atlanta moving east , shutting down chicago , dulles etc..
I even heard one a320 just after takeoff from lga have its route clearance to chicago cancelled...The pilot was saying well what do you want us to do we are airborne !!! Wonder what he did?

Rumor has it that the reason that the FAA's NADIN circuit got overloaded and failed was due to all the media helicopters out in southern California filing flight plans to go orbit Paris Hilton's house and cover her trip back to jail...

HOW ANCIENT is this system?

Obviously nobody has heard yet about fault-tolerant or fail-operational systems, rerouting, networks, redundancy, you name it. Maybe somebody should explain to these people how the Internet works, some day.....

Just be glad your glass cockpits and AFCS were not designed and implemented by the same monkeys.

Yes, because most glass cockpits are truly cutting edge in the realm of consumer electronics and aren't ancient by non-aviation standards by the time they get certified...
