Post Apple Vacations

I saw two lime green and white A 320's in Chicago ORD the other day with British registrations. Just wondering who, a. Who are Apple Vacations and b.Which British airline is supplying them with the aircraft plus crews.....

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe the A320's you saw belonged to JMC.

Each winter due to reduced passenger numbers they go to the states, with crews and operate for Apple Vacations.

As far as Apple Vacations go, I don't now anything about them.

Hope I helped to clear up your question.

Apple Vacation are a US tour company, aircraft are operated by Ryan International and lease from JMC as previously noted.

I believe that apple vacations have set up their own airline, which is USA 3000 which at the moment has 3 A320's (I think)!!

I don't remember how many 320's
USA 3000 has, but they are for Apple Vacations.
You may be seeing some of their planes around already with the USA 3000 name on them.
Someone here on the board has already seen them, recently.

USA 3000 has 1 A320, with 168 pax. Plans on getting more A320s this winter and next to serve the typical vacation spots in Cancun and Dom. Republic for the US snow birds.

Is being funded by Apple Corp. to gain more control over the vacation feed operation that they currently charter out to other carriers.

Ryan Intl operates those green A320s for Apple vacations down to Cancun, etc also (RYn based in ICT).

All correct, but no Brit crews this year - shame.
Last year we had a great time in the USA but all good things must come to an end sooner or later!

Apple Vacations decided to set up its own airline in order to have more control of the product thye have to offer to vacationers. USA3000 Airlines is the airline they have formed and have 2 brand new A320's to date with five more to come in 2002 and a total of 14 due by 2004. They will be based in PHL, ORD, EWR, BWI and PIT. Rumor has it that five 330's are on the drawing board to do the Apple Vacations Hawaii flying out of SFO and LAX as well as Carribean flying out of BOS and European flying out of JFK. They plan not to have to use contractors again and to have their own planes, crews and flight attendants operate all their own vacations. Big plans it appears, and all after 9/11!
The 320's can be seen in PHL right now parked on Atlantic Aviations ramp and after the 28th one will be in EWR and the other in PHL. Nice colour scheme.
They will be flying to Liberia, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Dom. Republic, Nassau and Cozumel to start.
Their regs is N260AV and N261AV and have the numbers all the way up to N280AV booked. N260AV is named City of Philadelphia and N261AV is named Sainte Jean.
From a pilots standpoint they have decided, I believe, to allow as many jumpseaters as theree are empty seats in the back of the plane, which is nice. Their callsign is "GETAWAY".

It is my understanding that USA 3000 will operate only the enough aircraft to cover the year round flying for Apple, and all winter only work will still be contract lift.

That would make sense Irondriver, I'm sure that the winter schedule for a charter airline in the USA is twice as great as it is for the summer.
By the way I saw two JMC 757's in ORD this week with Apple on the side of them. I thought JMC were only sending A320s to the USA!
