If the hijacker had died during the landing and attack by the passengers, it might have helped a future hijacker to think twice before trying this. This happened on Southwest Airlines about six or seven years ago.

What a shame that this last hijacker survived. After all, whose decision was it to commit this very risky crime?

"The Air Mauritania Boeing 737 carrying 71 passengers and a crew of eight..."

Good job it didn't happen in the UK or the passengers involved, and no doubt the crew would be locked up by plod and prosecuted for infringing the hijacker's human rights!!

Crew numbers

Could be training:

3 in Cockpit + 5 in the back.

Could be DH Crew.

Either way the guy picked the wrong outfit. Scalding coffee is bad enough on your knees...

Crew of 8, Pilots + Flight Attendants (not sure how many are needed on the 737).

Now who is right and what the jurisprudence indicates, escapes a layman such as myself - but am most curious to hear further ideas, opinions or links to judgements or rulings hereon.
In discussion with head of Immigration (at that time) at BNE airport (me trying to avoid a fine for my airline) I was advised that the crime is committed when the wheels touch the runway. Pax volunteered to return to country of origin to get a visa so no fine.
