RYANAIR, the no-frills airline based in Dublin, completed a €162.5 million (£99 million) share placing yesterday. . .The placing, announced earlier this week, will help to finance the purchase of 100 new Boeing 737-800 aircraft over the next six years. Ryanair, Europe’s largest budget airline, may also take up an option on another 50 aircraft from Boeing.
The placing of 26 million shares was completed at €6.25 each. The company’s London-listed shares rose 7p to 405½p yesterday. That capitalises the airline at almost £2.9 billion. British Airways is capitalised at £2.1 billion.
Earlier this week Ryanair said that its passenger totals were up by 30 per cent to 2.7 million and after-tax profits up by 35 per cent to €28.8 million, despite the airline industry’s worst trading period following the terrorist attacks on the United States last September.. . . .Source Aviation News
