ScotAirways Takes Over British European Scottish Route

ScotAir takes over London City route

BRIAN SOUTER pledged yesterday to turn around a troubled air link between Scotland and London.
The Stagecoach chief, now chairman of ScotAir, was at Aberdeen airport to launch the Aberdeen to London City flights, two days after British European cancelled the service. ScotAirways is now the only airline operating a route network from all five Scottish cities direct to London.
Mr Souter said: "I feel we have found a real niche in the market by concentrating on business customers. "We should not experience the same problems as British European because we have less seats to fill, using a Fairchild 328 aircraft."
The service will also bring Paris and other French destinations closer for passengers travelling from north-east Scotland. Mr Souter said: "We will be able to offer this service because of our relationship with Air France. Air France customers can now fly between Aberdeen and Paris connecting through
London City airport."
The service will run three times a day Monday to Friday with one flight on a Sunday. The cost of return flights ranges from £90 to £310.
