BA-US Freighters (again)!
CAA extends BA Cargo´s Atlas freighter wet-lease
LONDON, Oct 23 (Reuters) - British Airways World Cargo (BAWC) has been granted approval to extend the wet-lease of two Atlas Air Boeing 747-400 freighters from November 1 to 31, the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said in its latest bulletin.
The two aircraft are in the process of being transferred to the UK register to Global Supply Systems Ltd (GSS) which is then due to wet-lease them to BA.
GSS is 51 percent owned by British businessman John Porter and 49 percent by New York-based Atlas Air.
No comment was immediately available from BAWC on the one month extension.
Separately industry sources said the British carrier is planning to include New York-JFK as an intermediate point on its London Stansted-Atlanta flights which are operated by Atlas Air freighters.
It is intended that these weekly scheduled freighter flights taking in JFK will be part of the airline´s winter timetable, although this has not yet been formally published, the sources added.
