BA job cuts - will this affect the CEP scheme?
The Times, Wed 23rd May
..... BA has already cut its staff by 3,800 this year through natural wastage, and Mr Eddington said that further cuts to the 59,000-strong workforce would follow, although he would not reveal numbers.
Is this likely to affect the intake of the CEP scheme??

No, British Airways has reduced capacity on a ot of routes by bringing in the Airbus fleets and indeed the 777s, but as an insider said to me, "We still have the same number of aircraft, regardless of their size, and they all require a two-person crew." The CEP is designed to provide shorthaul first officers to replace the ones being promoted to Captain with the large number of retirements happening over the next couple of years.. this is called the "Hamble Bulge" as the crews from the Hamble CEP intake in the 60s are now reaching the end of their flying careers.
