Emergency at Liverpool John Lennon

A full emergency was declared at Liverpool John Lennon airport last night when smoke was reported on a flight from the Isle of Man.
The ATP aircraft carrying 52 passengers and around 4 crew members ran in to difficulty at twenty past eight last night. The pilot of flight 3W424 reported smoke in the cockpit and explained that he was on oxygen. 7 fire engines and special units from Merseyside fire and rescue were sent to the airport and 6 ambulances were also put on standby. The Emerald Airways plane, operated on behalf of Euromanx landed safely with no injuries and the emergency crews were stood down less than ten minutes later. Investigations are underway in to the cause of the smoke.
