My understanding is that Swiss will be in some alliance with AA but will not be a full One World member. As reason for not full integration, according to local radio station, One World has cited that Swiss(air) has still too many ships in its fleet. Apparently One World fears Swiss too be weighing in too heavy when it comes to politics.

Their Chief Executive said - "We will be working very closely with American. American Airlines is going to be our transatlantic partner and we are aiming for a Oneworld full membership in this coming year".. .. .Industry sources(not given!) said there were a number of regulatory obstacles to full Oneworld membership.. .. .However, it is predicted that BA and Swiss would dominate the routes between Britain and Switzerland and some rivals, such as EasyJet, have already indicated they would demand the European Commission to force BA and Swiss to surrender landing slots on Heathrow airport if Swiss became a Oneworld member.. .. .In another story today Swiss stated that they were to replace 13 MD-11 long-haul aircraft in its fleet with Airbus A340-300 planes. It gave no financial details in its statement, but it said the Airbus planes gave more seating space, had lower emissions and made far less noise.
