From tonights MEN

Holiday jet smoke scare
Holidaymakers were evacuated from a Tenerife-bound jet at Manchester Airport today after a smoke scare in the cockpit.
The ******** plane, carrying 167 passengers, was preparing to head to the runway when the pilot noticed fumes escaping from beneath his seat.
Firemen wearing full brathing apparatus were put on alert and found the problem had been caused by an overheating battery.
The holidaymakers had to wait for another plane.

It was interesting to see that the Manchester Evening News had a reporter with an airside pass talking to pax on this flight yesterday afternoon.

Why do the MEN need an airside pass ?

The flight eventually departed at 1940(L) for TFS on the same a/c.

Probably have an airside pass to allow them to gather facts about incidents instead of making it up. Also, they are unlikely to masquerade and carry phony bombs if they are bona fide.

Now, more importantly, why is the carrier's name being censored in the previous posts. I bet readers of the MEN know who it is. You can always use the word "alleged" to escape any legal repercussions chaps.

I typed the name into the post, however the result is as you see it. It appeared automatically immediately after sending the post.

Was nearby, and aircraft was at the parking gate still loadiing pax. Did a rapid disembarcation through main and aft door. Heard pax were mad due to no refunds if they didn't go on later flight. Press is, once again, real accurate.
