Interesting ad.... They don't even try to attract pilots with salary/pension deals as I guess it is accepted that BA have fallen behind other packages out there. Bit sad when all they can rely on is "being positive about disabled people" ( Shouldn't they be positive about ALL people) and "roster stability"

Phoenix son Perhaps Ryanair pilots should value themselves more? If BA went down that road, they would lose half of their pilots tomorrow. After all, it only costs 30 odd grand to go and do a full time 1 yr MBA. The other half of the workforce would stay and continue kidding themselves that BA have their best interests at heart. Mind you , it is reassuring to know that the current Flt Ops Mgmt team would fight our corner to the death.

BA Job
With all respect to those in BA and other carriers who have a rosta (whether its good or bad) from Corporate Aviation, rostas dont rely exist. You just get on with you life until the phone rings, and if your in a busy company well the phone just rings and rings. Im all for doing 6x B777 trips a month, however, I agree that it would probably drive me nuts after 6 months or so. But aviation has cycles and habits as to which some of us hate and some of us enjoy. I my humble opinion, we all want to to work when we want to, and we want time off when we want that too. But whatever, rosta, salary, pension scheme or aircraft type, we are never really happy with what we have got - until we loose it......
(PS. To the Chief Pilot of BA, can I swop my Citation Excel for a B777 please... I fancy a change...??

What's with the philosophy?
We are discussing the attractiveness of a job in BA not the corporate world.
Amongst other benefits BA does offer roster stability - just like a mouse in a treadmill gets roster stability.
SH 800 pa / LH 850 with pa 5 or 6 East Coasts a month.
With the forthcoming CRA legislation anybody joining now will work most weekends for the forseeable future.
This is not meant to provoke a stream of conscientiousness about life in general - merely an observation that if you value your weekends / want to see your kids growing up, then BA ( alright aviation in general) may not confer the advantages you seek.

NO VACANCIES
No matter what that ad says, why advertising for pilots if there are no vacancies published in their website ??
I tried to send an email directly to them but they say it is only possible to apply via the website.
Can anybody explain why they put such ads in flightinternationaljobs.com saying they need pilots and when you log into their web there are no vacancies ??
It is easier not to place any add so they can save the money.

Come on guys, can we cut a deal here and leave the pilots to fly the planes and the HR people to comply with HR legisation?
On the other hand, we could let the HR people fly the planes and the pilots do the HR stuff, now that would be exciting

From some of the comments posted here concerning "roster stability" etc one wonders whether complaints need to be lodged with the Advertising Standards Authority concerning this advert?
As far as the "disabled" comments go...
I have known of at least 2 BA pilots who are amputees - (both joined after their respective accidents). So the comment in the ad was correct and relevant in their cases.
Maybe it was just the phraseology that people are objecting to here, but whatever you call it doesn't change the individuals situation, and at least you know it is still worth applying.

Farsouth I don't think any one is objecting to equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of race, sex, disability, etc. Just the non pc jargon. Very unlike BA. Internally, BA is full of it.
