www.over-both-poles.com

This web-site contains detailed information related to the double-polar flight to be carried out by SAA.

The scheduled departure date is Saturday, Nov. 17th 2001 at 12:00pm from JFK International Airport in New York City.

The flight is expected to depart from the Delta Airlines Terminal (Terminal 3) and return to the same Terminal on Monday, Nov. 19th 2001 at approximately 1600 hrs.

Has this kind of flight ever been done before?

On the website that you listed it mentioned a Pan Am 747SP that went SFO-LHR-JNB-AKL-SFO back in 1977.
