Thumbs down Emery Pilots

At 1900 EST on Jan. 17th ALPA national dismissed the master executive council of Emery Worldwide Airlines council 110 with little or no notice and placed our council 110 in to custodianship. This provision is in the ALPA bylaws in the event that the airline has nobody available from the MEC or the pilot group to act on the council’s behalf.

Council 110 has grievances pending arbitration pertaining the shutdown of EWA. The 110 MEC had been working with the San Francisco office of ALPA legal dealing with these issues. The grievances originated due to what is believed to be an intentional plan by CNF to facilitate a certificate action by the FAA and force the shut down of EWA and ultimately get rid of its unionized pilots.

It would appear to this observer that the grievance procedure had approached the final stage of arbitration when ALPA national dismissed the MEC.. . . .Capt. Woerth now seems to feel that a custodian would be more effective to resolve these issues instead of the duly elected representatives of the Emery pilots.

To this point there has been no explanation or information received from Capt. Woerth or ALPA national regarding their actions.
